Bio

I’m Associate Professor of Literature, and current Chair of the Division of Languages and Literature, at Bard College in the Hudson Valley (NY). Having grown up in Minneapolis, I earned a BA in Rhetoric at UC Berkeley, worked in publishing for a couple years, and then returned to Berkeley for a PhD in English. I arrived at Bard in 2012. My first book, Sound-Blind, was published by UNC Press, and my essays have appeared in such journals as Criticism, ISLE, Leviathan, Narrative, PMLA, and Small Axe. I serve on the editorial board of Short Fiction in Theory and Practice.
